“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.” Mark 11:23.
For me, this scripture is exciting. In the simplest of terms, it means that with the right faith, I can move mountains! I can part waters! I can get what I want! In the simplest of terms, I can be in control.
It would be nice if my interpretation were correct. I mean, what child wouldn’t want all the candy they could have at the check-out line at Walmart? But, that is neither good for me or how a Father works.
There are times when we pray and pray and pray and the answers do not come as we believe they should. The mountains do NOT move and the waters do NOT part. It has happened to us all. In my own life, I have faithfully prayed for something to happen, and I heard silence from God. It is a time when we wonder where God is, and if He is even listening.
The reality is there is nothing God cannot do. He put the stars in the skies, the sun and moon, and set the planets into motion. He created the oceans, the mountains, and every living creature on earth. How can we not believe that He can handle our problems? And yet, we hear silence from Him.
Faith is believing in God’s answer, not our answer. Faith is believing that He knows the bigger picture. He sees up ahead. He knows the direction we need to go. Even though times are difficult for us right now, His answer is on the way.
His ways are not our ways. His thoughts are not our thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9). The Bible tells us that His plans are good for us (Jeremiah 29:11). Knowing all these things, it can be difficult when we want someone to be healed, or we need a job, or we want to save our marriage, or we do not want to lose our business.
Although we may feel our world is falling apart, God may be putting our world into place. The very issue which is causing us to doubt He is listening, may be the very thing He uses to change our lives.
I do not know what you are experiencing today; but, I do know, God knows. He loves you with a love that is impossible for us to understand. He will not forget you or ignore you. He knows just what needs to be done to bring you the best solution for your life. Trust Him. Believe in Him. Seek Him.
He will not let you down.
