Wendall Carter Parker, age 88, of Hollingsworth Community, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016.
Mr. Parker was born on September 20, 1927, in Lovington, New Mexico, to the late John B. and Leah Carter Parker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters: Hope Kannenberg and Lois Slater and brothers: Carroll and John Parker. Mr. Parker was a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas and Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Parker was a Missionary in Panama for 10 years and Guatemala for 31 years where he still served on a volunteer basis. He has over 50 years of service as a Missionary. Mr. Parker was a United States Navy Veteran.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 and a half years: Jane Averitt Parker, Alto; daughter and son-in-law: LeAnne and Gray Riggsbee, Cumming; brother: Dr. Robert L. Parker, of Coral Gables, FL; four grandchildren: Erin and Rick Kolodick, Emily Dingmore, Josh and Sarah Riggsbee, and Matt and Tameka Riggsbee; four great-grandchildren: Isabel Kolodick, Avery Riggsbee, Eli Riggsbee, and Chloe Riggsbee; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Byrd officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
