Week 9 Finals & Recaps

The Raiders had a rough go of it Friday at home against Dacula. (Daniel Purcell/Now Habersham)

The Habersham Central Raiders didn’t generate much offense and couldn’t contain on defense. The Falcons routed the Raiders, 49-7.

With the loss the Raiders are again even on the season and dropped to 1-2 in region play. Next week for the Raiders against Winder will be HUGE.

FULL STORY & HIGHLIGHTS

#3 Commerce 49, Towns 7

The Tigers led 42-0 at the break. Dajuan Wood scored first, then TJ Trudnak. Caleb Mason then had a pick-six to stretch it to 21-0 after one. Sam Roach made it 28-0 before Nate Ray threw a 75-yard TD to Wood. Mason scored another TD to push it to 42, and Bo Childers put the punctuation on it in the third quarter.

#3 Rabun 63, Social Circle 7

Brison Beck, Braxton Hicks and Gunner Stockton led the onslaught. Stockton found Beck for a quick TD, then found Hicks to make it 14-0. A 19-yard TD run by Beck and a pick-six by AJ Wheeler made it 28-0 after one. Stockton connected with Dawson Lathan in the second, then Hicks (47 yards) to go up 42-0. Beck then tallied two more rushing TDs and made it 56-0, which held into the half, which gave the starters the second half off.

#9 Union 56, Oglethorpe 0

The Panthers earned another dominant win to go to 8-0 on the year. Chad Buzzard’s two TD to open the game was followed by Jonah Daniel’s TD to make it 21-0. Pierson Allison then threw TD passes to Kyle Morlock and Chayton Schafer. Kanon Hemphill’s 84-yd kickoff return for a TD to open the second half did Oglethorpe in, as that made it 42-0. Daniel and Ivester capped the scoring as Union won its 10th straight, and clinched a home playoff game.

#8 Dawson 53, Fannin 7

The Tigers were up 46-0 at the break and had a running clock in the second half, winning easily 53-7.

Banks 24, Putnam 12

The Leopards are back in the win column and are keeping the playoff hopes alive with a big win over Putnam.

Denmark 28, White 27

This was devastating for the Warriors…a missed extra point after a 55-yard TD run by J Ben Haynes to put White County up late in the game proved costly, as Denmark scored and nailed the XP for the win. Haynes had a 45-yard TD run to start the scoring, then Michael Mintz threw a TD to Haynes to go up 14-0. Denmark tied it at 14 going into the break, and that score held until the fourth. Mintz’ one-yard score put the Warriors up, but the Danes tied it up before Haynes’ third TD made it 27-21 with 1:49 left. Denmark scored with 17 seconds to go.

North Oconee 31, Stephens 21

The Indians fell again to an Oconee County team, this time North Oconee. Not a bad game by the offense, but the defense couldn’t make enough stops.

#10 North Hall 70, Lumpkin 0

The Trojans pretty much scored as often as possible.
