THE LOCALS
White County vs Habersham Central
The Warriors and Raiders are both coming off some great wins in Week 1, with White County shrugging off a slow start to down Lumpkin 40-7 with a very balanced attack. Tre Luttrell has been phenomenal, as expected, for Habersham. The Raiders got a much-deserved win over Madison County. You better believe the Raiders have in mind to pay back White County for last season’s heartbreaking loss. PREDICTION: FAN VOTE HERE!
Towns County vs Union County
Towns County got a bye week to prepare for another rivalry matchup after beating Hayesville pretty bad in Week 0. Union County got its 15th straight season-opening win…that’s no typo. The Panthers last lost a season opener in 2003 to Jefferson. Union and Towns have squared off 30 times, and it’s been lopsided in favor of the Panthers, who have won 29 of those. The lone loss to Towns came in 1993, and it’s now 18 in a row for Union in the series. PREDICTION: Union County Wins
#3 Commerce vs Hart County
The Tigers have proven once again that their ground game eats opposing teams’ lunches. Hart County is a decent team and play very physical, but Commerce should go 3-0 here. PREDICTION: Commerce Wins
Stephens County vs #2 Athens Academy
Stephens County moved to a tough 2-0 with back-to-back wins, but Athens Academy raises the bar a little higher. PREDICTION: Athens Academy Wins
Lumpkin County vs Jackson County
The Indians creamed East Jackson, then held White County to just 7 for two quarters. It’s hard to say exactly what happens here, but Lumpkin does have something going here. PREDICTION: Lumpkin County Wins
#9 Jefferson @ West Hall
Jefferson is itching to get back on the field after a disappointing season-opening loss to Oconee County. They’ll be taking out their frustrations on West Hall. PREDICTION: Jefferson Wins
