It’s not necessarily a surprise as to how well some of the Lady Raiders are playing in 2016. Both Janie Beth Webb and Paige Cook are leading Habersham on the diamond with stunning seasons to date.
It might prove a difficult task to find another pair of teammates in Northeast Georgia that are doing as much damage as Webb, a senior second baseman, and Cook, a sophomore shortstop.
“JB,” as she is properly known by her teammates and friends, is batting .500 with a pair of homeruns and five RBI from the leadoff spot, adding 16 runs and three doubles. The senior drilled a three-run homerun in Tuesday night’s 12-4 win over Gainesville, moving the Lady Raiders to 4-10 on the season.
Cook, a Mississippi State softball commit, is off to a blistering start, hitting .462 with two homers and 10 RBI, adding three doubles and nine runs scored.
Their performance has earned them a BLITZ Player of the Week award, marking the second time Webb has won the award in her career.
