CLEVELAND, Ga. — White County School and White County Family Connection held a grand opening and tour this week of their new Warrior Connection, a joint venture for the two.

Warrior Connection is designed to meet the most basic needs of White County students and their families who can’t afford them. It’s a place on the White County High School campus that offers help with food, clothing, basic necessities, and even a place to shower.

White County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Laurie Burkett told the crowd gathered for the celebration Thursday, “This is the culmination of a lot of dreaming and even more hard work.”

Burkett talked about preserving the dignity of the students who need the service offered.

“There’s a QR code and a kid can take his or her phone and can click on a QR code and it goes to like a Walmart click list and they can get exactly what they need when they need it. It’s even delivered to school, and they pick it up, and they have exactly what they need. I think that’s brilliant,” she said.

Under the guidance of Amanda Lammers, Student Support Coordinator for White County Schools, Warrior Connection is an added service to students along with Warrior Wellness, which is located next door.
