Warrants issued for Cornelia burglary suspect

Police still need help finding him

Cornelia police investigators have zeroed in on a suspect wanted in a series of downtown business burglaries. Helped by enhanced images from Sugartopia Bakery, one of the businesses that was hit, police say they were able to identify the suspect as 25-year-old Chance Hess.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Hess, and police are now asking for the public’s help finding him.

According to police, Hess is white, 6 feet tall, and has two neck tattoos. He is known to have acquaintances in Cornelia, Mt. Airy, Toccoa, and Florida.

“With the help of the wonderful staff of Sugartopia, our investigators were able to use the video footage to confirm information we had received about Mr. Hess being a suspect,” says Cornelia Police Chief Jonathan Roberts. “Through our investigation we were able to positively identify him.”

Hess now has active warrants for burglary. Roberts says more charges are possible.
