Walter Matthews of Clarkesville went home to be with his Lord on December 27, 2016 in Naples, Florida.
He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Clarkesville where Walter’s life will be celebrated on May 27, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Richard Pletsch with officiate along with Pastors Tony Kemp and Walton McNeal.
He was an active member of Ebenezer where he served in several offices but his true love was serving as a greeter. Walter also had a passion for the nursing home missions and Food to Kids.
He retired then from AT&T with 35 years of service.
He is survived by his wife Dolores Matthews; son and daughter in law, Richard and Diana Matthews, and daughter and son in law, Michelle and Mark Lambert; grandchildren, Daniel Matthews, Nicholas Mace, Trevor Mace, Bonnie Hazell, Spencer Mace, Brittany Freshcorn, and Richard Matthews; seven great grandchildren; brother and sister in law, Millard and Ruby Matthews; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
