Voter registration ends Monday, Oct. 7, Early voting begins Oct. 15

Voters across Georgia will begin casting ballots for the upcoming November General Election. The deadline to register to vote is Monday, October 7, with early voting to begin the next Tuesday, October 15 due to Monday being Columbus Day.

Those wishing to register to vote in the November General Election may do so online by Monday, October 7, through the Georgia Secretary of State’s website at My Voter Page.

Absentee ballots

Absentee ballots will be available beginning Monday, October 7 and continue through Friday, October 25. Voters wishing to receive an absentee ballot by mail are encouraged to do so as soon as possible at the Habersham County Elections and Voter Registration Office or call 706-839-0170 to avoid delays.

Voters may mail in their ballots or drop them off at the drop box located in the lobby during business and voting hours at the Habersham County Elections and Voter Registration Office at 403 Hab. Co. Shopping Center in Cornelia.

Voters wishing to mail in their absentee ballots are encouraged to do so as soon as possible to avoid delays with the postal service. A Clarkesville postal employee, who spoke on condition of anonymity, referred Now Habersham to the USPS Corporate Communications Specialist Evelina Ramirez for comment.

However, the employee did say that it appears that mail coming from the Palmetto distribution center is much more timely since February.

Now Habersham has reached out to Ramirez for comment. She has not responded.

Early Voting

Habersham County voters wishing to vote early can do so beginning Tuesday, October 15 at the Habersham South Precinct at 403 Habersham County Shopping Center. Early voting schedule is listed below.

Early Voting Weeks: October 15 through October 25 Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.- 5p.m.

Saturday Voting: October 19 and October 26, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Advance voting

Advance voting will begin on Monday, October 28 at both the South and North Precincts. The Habersham North Precinct is located in the Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center at 120 Paul Franklin Rd, Toccoa Highway in Clarkesville. See the advance voting schedule below.

Saturday Voting: October 26, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Advance Voting Week: October 28 through November 1, Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-7 p.m.

Baldwin Special Election and Banks County voters

Banks County voters and Baldwin voters that live in Banks County that wish to vote in the Baldwin Special Election during early, advance, and Saturday voting will vote at the Banks County Elections & Voter Registration Office located at 229 Candler Street in Homer.
