Ballot preview
There are a number of state-wide offices up for grabs. The biggest prize this November is the governor’s mansion. Former Democratic State Representative and Minority Leader Stacey Abrams is running a tight race against outgoing Republican Secretary of State Brian Kemp. Libertarian Ted Metz is also on the ballot to succeed Nathan Deal.
Georgia voters will also elect a new Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, and State School Superintendent, among others.
Habersham County voters will cast final votes for two county commission and three school board seats. Those races, however, are all but final since they’re uncontested. The winners were chosen in the Republican primary. No Democrats ran for local office.
Democrat Josh McCall is making the biggest Democratic bid regionally. He’s challenging Congressman Doug Collins for the 9th District Congressional seat.
State Representative Terry Rogers and State Senator John Wilkinson are both running unopposed in their districts which include Habersham County.
The State House District 28 race will be decided on Dec. 4 in a re-run of the May 22nd primary between incumbent Rep. Dan Gasaway and challenger Chris Erwin.
