Volunteers needed at Cornelia Train Museum

The City of Cornelia is seeking volunteers to work Saturdays at the newly renovated Train Museum in the Historic Depot downtown.

Community Development Manager Jessie Owensby says, “The museum is a beautiful and educational place that’s free and fun for families to enjoy during the weekend. But, we need the community to get involved in order for people to be able to experience it. We just don’t have the manpower that we need to keep it open six days a week.”

Currently, the museum is open Monday-Friday at various times. However, Saturdays are the most available time for visitors and tourists to come and explore.

The city spent two years renovating the museum, turning it into an historical attraction that preserves Cornelia’s rich history centered around the railroad. The grand opening is set for Saturday, August 6th at 10 a.m.  The Cornelia Train Museum is located inside the Historic Depot at 102 Grant Place, Cornelia, GA 30531.

If you’d like to volunteer please contact Owensby at (706)778-8585 ext. 280, or by email at [email protected].
