Volunteers, donations needed for special needs Christmas event in Cornelia

Organizers are putting the finishing touches on plans for the 4th annual Christmas with Santa for Special Needs Families and they still need volunteers and donations.

The event will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, December 7 in the fellowship hall at Hillside Baptist Church in Cornelia.

Christmas with Santa is designed to provide a low-key, comfortable, safe environment where children and adults with special needs can come with their families to enjoy the holidays.

The event is free and open to all special needs families. There is no age limit. Each family will receive a free photo with Santa and each child will receive a special gift from Santa himself.

Organizer Rhonda Stamey says they need volunteers to help serve refreshments and work the game stations during the event. They also need toys and monetary donations to help cover the cost of the event.

Stamey, who also organizes the annual Trunk-Or-Treat for Special Needs Families in Clarkesville, says it costs approximately $500 to pay for gifts and food for Christmas with Santa.

“We live in a fantastic community and I know the community will step up to help,” says Stamey. “These special needs families need to know they are loved and cared about.”

To volunteer or donate, contact Stamey at 706-949-9775 or email her at [email protected].

Monetary donations are tax-deductible.

Hillside Baptist Church is located at 324 Level Grove Road in Cornelia.
