The Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands begins today, Thursday, July 16th, and runs through Sunday, July 19th. This year, the fair is a little different.
For the past 73 years, the Southern Highland Craft Guild has provided access to local artisans and their arts and crafts through its annual craft show. With the challenges brought on by COVIS-19, the craft fair this year is virtual.
According to Millie Davis, the Marketing Director for the Guild, the decision was made mid-May to move the yearly event to a virtual format. She explains, “To make the event more interactive, as a normal Fair would be, we decided to have artists submit videos and sign up for a Live Streaming schedule.”
Visitors can’t physically go this year, but they still have the opportunity to shop and to watch live craft demonstrations direct from the artists’ studios. The work of eighty juried artisans of the Guild is featured.
To shop and participate in the craft fair, go to Southern Highland Craft Guild. A schedule of the daily events are located there.
