Viola Stowe Jordan, age 91, of Lula, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at New Horizons Nursing Home in Gainesville.
Mrs. Jordan was born on May 8, 1933 in Jackson County, Georgia to the late Hubert and Hattie Barrett Stowe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rueben H. Jordan; five sisters and one brother; as well as a special friend, Ella Mae Hubbard.
Viola was of the Holiness Faith. She was a homemaker all of her life, tending to her family. Viola enjoyed cooking and creating countless cherished meals that brought family and friends together. Her warm spirit earned her the titles of “Maw” to her grandchildren and “Granny” to her great-grandchildren, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Later in life, Viola found joy in journaling about her family, preserving precious memories for generations to come. She also demonstrated her unwavering faith by reading her Bible through three times, a testament to her spiritual dedication.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Wendell and Sheryl Jordan, of Gainesville; grandchildren, Wendy Burell, Charles (Ashley) Jordan, Timothy (Jalisa) Jordan; great-grandchildren, Mac (Amanda) Burell, Macie Burell, Rowan Jordan, Finley Jordan, River Jordan, Tatum Jordan and sister-in-law, Tiney Stowe.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Rev. Wendell Jordan, Rev. Maggie Black, and Rev. Craig Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow in the Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Blake Moore officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2024, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel.
