GSP provides update on vehicle crash through Clarkesville Dollar Tree

The Georgia State Patrol has provided an update on the accident where a vehicle went through the front of Dollar Tree in Clarkesville around 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28.

According to a preliminary report from GSP, Janice Thompson, 71, of Cornelia, was traveling north in Dollar Tree’s parking lot on Washington Street, attempting to park in a designated parking space. She thought she was pressing the brake but instead pressed the gas pedal.

The vehicle traveled forward through the front of Dollar Tree. As the vehicle entered the storefront, it struck Brianna Moulder, 20, of Mt. Airy, who was inside the building.

Moulder was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with minor injuries. According to the report, Thompson sustained minor injuries but was not transported.

Multiple agencies responded to the incident Friday afternoon, including first responders with Clarkesville, Demorest and Habersham County.
