Update on Tuesday’s 365 accident

On Tuesday, a tractor trailer accident took over 10 hours to put traffic back to normal on busy Hwy 365. Richard Black, 67, of Buford, was driving a load of seed south on 365 when he suddenly veered over both lanes of traffic narrowly missing another rig. He then proceeded over the grass median and over both lanes of traffic northbound before crashing into trees lining the north bound lanes just north of the Level Grove Rd exit. Black was taken to NEGMC, in Gainesville and is listed in satisfactory condition today.

Trooper Walden of the Georgia State patrol is in charge of the investigation. Walden said that witness statements as well as Black’s own statement at the scene indicate that Black does not know what happened. “He said he did not know what happened and had no memory,” of the events leading to the accident according to Walden. It did not appear to be a heart related event.

Black was working for Trantham Services out of Alexandria Alabama. David Trantham told Now Habersham that Black had only been working for the company about a month and that the truck was fairly new. Black had been working for “many, many years” in the agricultural transport industry and when Trantham recently took over a contract, Black had been working the route and he joined the company according to Trantham. Trahntham declined to say what company had contracted the service.

Now Habersham will continue to update the story as more information becomes available.
