A Banks County child remains in the Intensive Care Unit at an Atlanta Hospital after a swimming pool accident on Memorial Day.
Banks County Sheriff’s spokesperson Carissa McFaddin tells Now Habersham “We do know that the child is currently in ICU at Egleston Children’s Hospital.”
The unidentified 4-year-old fell into the pool Monday afternoon at a home off Highway 51 on Canters Run.
McFaddin says the child was unconscious when the call came in, “When deputies arrived, they found that the child had been revived by family members who performed CPR prior to emergency personnel arrival.”
After receiving treatment at the scene, the child was airlifted by helicopter to Egelston, “Due to HIPAA (federal insurance and privacy law),” explains McFaddin, “hospital personnel cannot release any further information.”
