Authorities immediately moved to notify U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after the arrest of an undocumented immigrant in late January, according to the Towns County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence on Natures Way in Towns County on Jan. 23 before Faustina Diaz Perez, 33, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery and three counts of felony obstruction of law enforcement.
Towns County authorities did not provide further details regarding the nature of the disturbance. Police say ICE was contacted and a hold on the suspect was immediately placed.
ICE took Perez on Saturday, Feb. 15, from the Towns County Detention Center for deportation, according to the sheriff’s office.
