Under New Management

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

Accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior is the greatest decision you could ever make. As it is written in 2 Corinthians, salvation brings with it a new being, a new creation. Our souls are forever changed, and we fall under the authority of the Holy Spirit. No longer are we governed by the flesh and the world. No longer are we citizens of earth but citizens of Heaven. No longer are we faced with the weight of sin and death. We are redeemed by the Blood of Jesus Christ.

But…we must accept we are under new management.

Like anything, we can quickly fall back into our old habits of the flesh. The flesh and sin are calling us back to do what we used to do; to be who we used to be. Our flesh doesn’t want to be ruled under the new administration – the old way was just fine with our flesh. “That’s the way we used to do and that’s the way we are going to do it!”

The great part is, we are a new creation. We no longer are ruled by the decisions of the flesh but by the plans and love of God. Hallelujah!

I do not know where you are in your walk – whether you are a seasoned Christian, a newly born Christian, or still undecided. This message applies to us all. When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, we become new creations. We live under the authority of God and none other. On a daily basis, we must remind ourselves we are no longer bound by sin and death but redeemed by Jesus Christ.

I carefully consider the reasons people do not accept Christ. Some people say it is the hypocrisy of Christians. Some people say it is Christianity’s doctrinal and institutional defects. Some blame the historical atrocities of the church. The reality for most people is Christianity brings with it an accountability system many do not want to accept. For me the question is really “Why wouldn’t you want to be Christian?” not “Why would you want to be Christian?”

Reason is a cognitive faculty. I am a person of reason. Faith is a cognitive leap which defies reason. Christianity brings in both. There is no other event in human history that is more documented than the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Evidence and faith combined!

Today, take the time to evaluate if you are living your life under the authority of the flesh and the world or under the authority of the Savior of the world, the King of kings, and the Lord of lords.  His way is far better than any other the world has to offer.
