UGA woodwind ensemble to play Piedmont College concert

The Georgia Woodwind Quintet, a resident faculty ensemble at the University of Georgia, will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2017, in the Chapel at Piedmont College in Demorest.

Since its founding in 1967, the quintet has built a reputation for championing new compositions for woodwinds. Recent activities have included performances at regional and national conferences and the recording of a new CD, “Chroma,” released last month. The quintet members include Angela Jones-Reus, flute; Dr. Reid Messich, oboe; Dr. D. Ray McClellan, clarinet; Dr. Amy Pollard, bassoon; and Dr. Jean Martin-Williams, horn.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Piedmont College students, faculty, and staff are admitted free. The Chapel is located at 992 Central Avenue in Demorest.

For the Piedmont concert, the quintet will perform works by Claude Debussy, Carl Nielsen, and Paquito D’Rivera.
