UGA closes Athens campus Monday

The University of Georgia is closing its Athens campus on Monday, Sept. 11, due to expected severe weather from Hurricane Irma. An announcement on the university’s emergency page states, “All classes, campus events and activities will be canceled during this time. A decision on the status of Tuesday operations will be made by noon on Monday.”

All university residence halls and dining halls on the UGA Athens campus will remain open. Campus transit will continue operating as long as the weather allows.

Designated Employees deemed necessary to the maintenance and operations of the university are expected to report to work Monday unless they’re unable to get there safely.

UGA also canceled classes Monday and Tuesday on its Tifton campus.
