Two separate traffic collisions on GA 365 at the intersection of Duncan Bridge Road (Ga. 384) disrupted traffic Friday morning after a pedestrian signal was struck, causing the main traffic signal to flash red in all directions.
According to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol notified county officials of the incidents around 8:50 a.m. on April 25. Authorities say the first wreck occurred on the southbound side of Ga. 365 at the Ga. 384 intersection, blocking the turn lane onto Ga. 365 southbound and resulting in reported injuries. GSP is investigating that crash.
A second collision happened shortly afterward in the northbound lanes, according to police, but resulted in no injuries. The Baldwin Police Department handled the investigation for that incident.
The malfunctioning traffic signal prompted the responding trooper to request additional support. Deputies from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control until Georgia Department of Transportation crews arrived and restored the signal to normal operation.
Both wrecks were cleared within an hour as traffic returned to normal.
