Two thrown from car in wreck

The Georgia State Patrol has released details of a wreck near Clarkesville that injured three people. It happened around 5pm Friday on Historic Highway 441.

According to Cpl. Casey Coffee with the Toccoa Patrol Post, the driver of a 2006 Chevy Malibu lost control of the car while attempting to reenter the northbound lane after passing another vehicle. The car spun into the southbound lane and was hit by an oncoming Chevrolet Silverado. The pickup struck the passenger side of the Malibu. Both occupants of the car were ejected on impact. They’re identified as Cory Keys of Bowersville, GA and Steven Welch of Toccoa.

Keys was airlifted to Grady Hospital in Atlanta. Welch was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

The occupants in the truck are identified as Ashley and Karen Moody of Maggie Valley, NC. Karen was taken to Habersham Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. Ashley was not transported to the hospital.
