Two football players for East Hall High School face charges following a physical altercation in a locker room on Wednesday, September 18.

The teens, ages 14 and 16, were in the locker room at East Hall Stadium following afternoon practice when the altercation occurred.

According to the preliminary investigation by Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators, the 16-year-old student approached the 14-year-old at his locker and picked him up by his shoulder pads, slamming him into the locker. The 14-year-old retaliated and stabbed the older teen with a pair of scissors. The 16-year-old suffered a stab wound to his leg as well as superficial lacerations to other parts of his body.

The sheriff’s office says, at this time, the 14-year-old is in custody at the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC), charged with aggravated assault and affray. The 16-year-old was charged with simple battery and affray. Following medical treatment for his injuries, the older teen was released to the custody of his parents.
