Police are searching for the man who shot and critically wounded two other men at a Gainesville shopping center.
The Gainesville Police Department on Tuesday charged 42-year-old Guillermo Vazquez Martinez with two counts of aggravated assault in the January 30 shooting. He’s accused of trying to murder two men in what police describe as a “targeted attack.”
“This was not a random crime, as the victims had a connection to Martinez,” a police department spokesperson says.
Both men survived the shooting outside Ross Department Store in the Village Shoppes at Gainesville off Dawsonville Highway.
Police say they believe Martinez, who’s from Gainesville, is now on the run and has left the area.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about Martinez or this crime to submit a tip through the Gainesville Police Department’s online tipline.
