Two life-flighted after dirt bike accident

Two boys were injured Sunday in a dirt bike accident in Cleveland. It happened around 12:44 p.m. on a dirt bike trail in a heavily wooded area of 26 Far Winds Road.

Cpl. A.J. Allen with the Georgia State Patrol says 13-year old Skylar Bassett and 12-year old Joey Rivard were riding on the trail when they “misjudged their clearance” and clipped each other’s Yamaha CCR 125 dirt bikes. After impact, Bassett’s bike traveled off the trail and crashed head-on into a large tree. He was ejected and thrown into the tree. Rivard’s bike overturned, ejecting him.

Both boys were transported to Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta by Life Flight.
