Charges have been filed against a Murrayville, GA teenager in connection with a two-car wreck near Clarkesville Tuesday morning.
Kelly Murray of the Georgia State Patrol Post in Toccoa says 17-year old Emma Lea Matthews of Murrayville and 56-year old Dianne Frye Dodgins of Clarkesville were both injured when their cars collided at the intersection of GA State Route 197 and Gastly Road.
The accident happened at 8:08 a.m. Tuesday. Murray says Matthews was traveling east on Gastly Road in a 2002 PT Cruiser when she stopped at the stop sign, then pulled into the path of Dodgin’s 2012 Kia Optima which was traveling south on GA 197. Dodgin’s Optima hit Matthews’ Cruiser in the front left side. Dodgin’s car then ran into an embankment on the east shoulder of the road and Matthews’ Cruiser wound up in the ditch on the opposite side of the road.
Both women suffered injuries to their upper extremities and were transported by ambulance to Habersham Medical Center. Matthews is charged with failure to yield after stopping at a stop sign.
