A homeowner who opened fire on two men who broke into her residence in northwest Hall County is in trouble with the law. Investigators say they found drugs in the house after the shooting.
According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred Thursday night, Oct. 19, at a house in the 4000 block of Sardis Road.
The initial investigation determined two male suspects entered the residence just after 6:30 p.m. demanding money. One of them, identified later as Jermarius Jarod Rowe, 28, of McDonough, had a pistol, which he brandished at the three occupants.
The homeowner, Stephanie Dyer, 40, fired several shots in the direction of the suspects. Dyer and the other occupants fled the house and hid in nearby woods.
Deputies searched the area and found Rowe, detaining him without incident. After questioning him, investigators charged Rowe with home invasion, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, all felony offenses.
The other suspect fled the scene. Authorities have not determined his identity.
The sheriff’s office says no one was injured in the incident.
Drugs charges
While investigating the incident Thursday night, authorities say they located inside the residence a quantity of psilocybin mushrooms, THC oil, a bag containing $4,450 in cash, and assorted drug paraphernalia.
The estimated street value of the illegal narcotics they seized is around $3,500.
As a result, investigators charged Dyer with two felony counts, each of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance with intent to distribute. Investigators also charged her with misdemeanor possession of drug-related objects.
The sheriff’s office says the investigation continues.
