A convicted felon is back behind bars following his arrest Friday during a drug raid on a residence in Alto. Authorities charged 42-year-old Douglas Waylon Davis of Cornelia with trafficking meth. They also arrested and charged 50-year-old Bobby Ayers of Alto with possession of meth. Both men face weapons charges.
The two were arrested during a joint operation at 185 Alonzo Wade Road in the early morning hours of April 21. A Georgia State Patrol SWAT team, along with FBI and GBI agents, and the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office went to the house around 6:20 a.m. to serve a search warrant. The SWAT team made entry into the house and detained several people, including Davis and Ayers, the incident report states.
Davis was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Stephens County for failure to appear. He was previously convicted in Habersham County in 2015 for felony possession of methamphetamine.
Authorities say they found approximately 406 grams of methamphetamine in Davis’ bedroom at the Alonzo Wade Road residence. He also had a 9mm pistol in his possession, the arrest warrant filed after the raid states.
Officers accused Ayers of possessing a “crystal-type substance suspected of being methamphetamine” and had a firearm nearby.
Deputies booked both suspects at the Habersham County Detention Center. A magistrate judge denied bond for Davis. Ayers’ bond was set at $7900. As of Monday morning, April 24, both men remained behind bars.
