Two arrested in Cleveland for sexual exploitation of children

In two separate investigations by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit, arrests and charges have been brought against two White County residents. Jonathan Sells, 39, of Cleveland, and Thomas Walker, 37, of Helen, were charged and arrested on October 24 for alleged sexual exploitation of children.

In May of 2024, the GBI CEACC Unit initiated an investigation into Sells’ online activity. A search warrant was issued for his home which led to his subsequent arrest on October 24. As a result of this search warrant, investigators discovered Sells both possessed and distributed child sexual abuse material. Sells was also charged with the destruction of evidence.

White County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations (H.S.I.) assisted the GBI CEACC Unit in the investigation of Sells.

Also in May of 2024, the GBI CEACC Unit began a proactive investigation of Walker’s online activity. His home was searched after a search warrant was obtained. This led to his arrest on October 24 as well. Walker was found to have child sexual abuse material (3 counts). The Helen Police Department assisted with the arrest of Walker.

Both men were booked at the White County Jail. Both remain in custody. The bond has been set at $200,000 for Sells, and the bond for Walker has been set at $18,500.
