In August, the City Council of Demorest voted to add a referendum on the November ballot. The question before the citizens of Demorest will be whether to allow the sale of liquor by the drink in the City limits of Demorest. With the imminent opening of Sweet Breads in the former City Hall building, the restaurant owners have asked to have the question put on the ballot.
At the September meeting last week, the Council voted to add an additional question to the ballot. The second question also deals with liquor. The question will be whether to allow Sunday package sales as well as Sunday sales of liquor by the drink. Some discussion was held about the timing of Sunday sales and a general consensus was reached to have the sales begin after most Church services.
The November election is set for November the 3rd.
