Trump says he’s been indicted in classified documents investigation

Donald Trump said Tuesday he’s been indicted on charges of mishandling classified documents at his Florida estate.

Media reports of the indictment began circulating Thursday evening after Trump posted on his Truth Social platform.

He says he has been summoned to appear at the federal courthouse in Miami on Tuesday at 3 p.m. In his post, Trump decried the “corrupt Biden Administration” and proclaimed his innocence.

He called his indictment a “dark day” for America.

The Justice Department did not immediately publicly confirm the indictment, according to the Associated Press.

Trump is currently in Bedminster, New Jersey. A person familiar with the situation who was not authorized to discuss it publicly told AP that Trump’s lawyers were contacted by prosecutors shortly before he announced on his Truth Social platform that he had been indicted.
