Junior David Campbell Jr., has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Week 10 (January 9-15, 2017) of the basketball season, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
This is Campbell’s second AAC Player of the Week honor.
Campbell is still the only player outside of Union College to receive the award this season. The Lake Wales, Florida, native won the award back in Week Seven of the season. Three different players from Union have split the other eight weekly awards.
Campbell averaged 22.3 points per game in three contests last week, netting a career high 33 points against Reinhardt in an 89-88 thriller Monday night. He also put 26 points in the scoring column against Tennessee Wesleyan in the TMU program’s first win over a team either ranked or receiving votes in the national Top 25 poll. He shot nearly 41 percent from the field and 42 percent from three-point land.
TMU will get back on the floor tomorrow evening in the Bear Cave with a non-conference matchup against Fisk University. TIp time for the final non-conference game of the year is set for 7:30 p.m.
