After finishing runner-up at the Mid-South Conference/NAIA East Regional Qualifier, Truett McConnell wrestler Jeff Chandler will go to Topeka, Kansas, to compete for a national championship at 285 pounds starting on March 3.
The 60th annual NAIA Championship is being hosted by USA Wrestling-Kansas.
Chandler ran through the regional, defeating his first two opponents by fall, before knocking off the No. 1 seed by a 5-3 decision in the semifinals to qualify for the National Tournament. He was also named Second Team All-MSC as the runner-up.
Chandler will have some tough competition in the weight class, going up against 22 other heavyweights in the tournament, including last year’s national champion, Dean Broghammer of Grand View.
The preliminary brackets were released Friday.
