Truett Women’s Golf breaks 18-hole record; highest AAC finish all-time

The Truett McConnell women’s golf team shot a 331 on the second and final day of the 2017 AAC/NAIA Direct Qualifier, breaking the 18-hole school record set exactly two weeks ago in a sixth place finish in the tournament this week.

The sixth place finish marks the highest finish in the AAC Tournament in school history.

In her final collegiate round, senior Ashley Blackburn led the charge with an 81 as part of her 23rd place finish. Kayla Chapman was the low tournament player for the Bears, carding an 82 in the second round to finish in 20th place. Alex Oren scored an 83, while both Hannah Wall and Ashton Thompson had scores of 85.

In somewhat of an upset, Milligan College won the tournament, beating St. Andrews by four strokes for the automatic bid to the NAIA Championships. No. 14 SCAD-Atlanta, the winner of both the Fall and Spring Championships, shot a 330 in the first round, putting them in a huge hole they were unable to get out of.
