Two women escaped injury when their pickup truck and a camper they were hauling overturned on GA 365 South in Cornelia.
The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 24, just south of the southbound onramp from Level Grove Road.
The driver, 26-year-old Jaimee Murgado of Locust Grove, Georgia, told state troopers the vehicle began to sway back and forth, and she lost control. The vehicle began to “yaw heavily to the right while rotating 180 degrees,” the accident report states.
The pickup overturned and skidded onto the west shoulder of the highway, striking a guardrail. The truck wound up on its side facing north. The camper also overturned, partially blocking the highway.
A trooper from Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa investigated the crash. The investigation revealed the trailer was improperly loaded. State troopers issued Murgado two citations for failure to maintain lane and slick tires. Both she and the passenger in the truck, 24-year-old Ireland Humphrey, also of Locust Grove, walked away without injury.
