A truck driver has been charged in connection with a multi-vehicle wreck that temporarily shut down the northbound lanes of GA 365 in Cornelia last week.
It happened July 28th just north of Kudzu Hill Drive.
The Georgia State Patrol says 55-year old Gary Chaney of Ambrose, GA was traveling north in his 2013 FRHT tractor trailer when a vehicle ahead of him had a blow out. As traffic slowed, two vehicles pulled onto the east shoulder of the road. Chaney, unable to stop, rear-ended one of them – a 2015 Honda Civic. The Civic then rear-ended a 2016 GMC Yukon Denali.
As the truck continued traveling north while trying to stop, its trailer struck the left rear of a 2008 Honda Fit Sport. The tractor trailer came to rest in the center grass median of the highway.
Fortunately, no one was injured. Traffic was detoured as the scene was cleared.
Chaney is charged with following too closely.
