In what is a direct result of Friday night’s record-setting scoring effort by the Raiders, three Habersham Central players were honored with BLITZ Player of the Week awards.
It easily could have been more. In fact, the entire offensive line helped make it possible for senior QB AJ Curry (179 pass yds, 3 TD; 147 rush yds, TD), senior RB Baylor Hinshaw (235 rush yds, 2 TD) and junior RB Daniel Matkovic (224 rush yds, 4 TD) to put up the numbers they did on the way to BLITZ Player of the Week awards.

BLITZ public voting yielded a voter’s pick of Curry, who led the Raiders to a 72-55 win, shattering the school record of 56 points put up in 2001 against Franklin County. Former Raider QB (who also donned #4 on his jersey) Kevin Ellison nearly accomplished the feat with a 54-point outburst in 2011 against Winder Barrow.
The 72 point output easily surpasses the school record and will be nearly impossible to beat. For more public voting polls, visit www.blitzsportsga.com/polls.
