Police arrested a Mt. Airy man on drug charges after he ran a stoplight in Baldwin.
Baldwin Police Officer Ryan Thomas says Johnny Ray Jordan was under the influence of drugs when he pulled him over on Willingham Avenue Monday afternoon. During the traffic stop, Thomas says he “could smell a very overwhelming odor of unburned marijuana.” He says the driver, later identified as Jordan, told him he did not have a valid license. During a pat-down search, Thomas says he discovered Jordan was carrying a large amount of cash and a small bag containing what appeared to be methamphetamine.
“While escorting him back to my patrol vehicle, he advised me that I would also find a small bag of weed inside of the vehicle,” Thomas states in the incident report. The policeman says he found two different IDs in the suspect’s wallet, one of which Jordan claimed was his brother’s.
Officer Thomas conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. Inside, he says he found a plastic bag with a “green leafy substance, a glass smoking pipe with white residue, and several butane torches.” Police say the total amount of cash they found was $2,185.
Thomas charged Jordan with seven counts including several traffic violations, DUI, possession of meth and an ounce or less of marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects.
Police booked Jordan into the Habersham County jail. The court set his bond at $9,380 bond.
