Traffic stop leads to drug arrests in Clarkesville

A routine traffic stop in Clarkesville escalates into a drug investigation that lands three people in jail.
23-year old Brett Christian Breedlove and 17-year old Joshua Heard, both of Clarkesville, face drug charges in connection with the incident. A third person, Lori Heard, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Mitchell Posey with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) says officers found marijuana and methadone in Breedlove’s vehicle during a traffic stop conducted by the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, February 12. He was stopped for failure to maintain lane.

The information from that traffic stop led Habersham County authorities to conduct a search of Joshua and Lori Heard’s residence at 155 Diamond Drive in Clarkesville. “A search of the residence resulted in an additional seizure of methamphetamine and marijuana,” Posey says.

Agents seized approximately $8,000 worth of drugs.

Breedlove was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance (methadone), possession of drug related objects and failure to maintain lane.

Joshua Heard was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of methamphetamine.

Lori Heard was arrested for an unrelated incident involving an active arrest warrant from the Baldwin Police Department for failure to appear.
