The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) will shift traffic patterns at the new roundabout on Hwy. 115 in Demorest Friday morning, Feb. 14. A DOT spokesperson says the existing temporary lane will close, and a new configuration lane merging into the roundabout at SR 115 and SR 105/Cannon Bridge Road will open.

The roundabout on Hwy. 115 is a first for Habersham County. A second roundabout is planned at the intersection of GA 197 South and SR 17 in Clarkesville. (Daniel Purcell/NowHabersham.com)

DOT contractors began installing the roundabout in 2023. Work is scheduled to be completed this spring. It is the first roundabout in Habersham County, with construction set to begin on another in Clarkesville later this year.

Motorists are reminded to slow down, stay alert, and watch for workers in work zones.
