Traffic delays expected on Level Grove Road as repaving begins

Level Grove Road has been a trouble spot for Cornelia since last summer. It was initially closed so that city contractors could install new sidwalks. In the process, they discovered old water and sewer lines forcing them to dig up the road, turning what should have been a month-long project into a four-month ordeal.

And it’s not over yet.

On Wednesday, February 2, the contractor overseeing the Level Grove Road project, Wilcorp, will begin repaving the connector between the U.S. 441 Bypass and downtown Cornelia. The repaving project will result in traffic delays between Wayside Street and the Bypass.

City officials say the work should take approximately three days to complete, weather permitting. They urge drivers to avoid Level Grove Road if possible while the work is being done.
