Habersham County residents who need help this Christmas may apply for assistance from the Kiwanis Club’s Toys for Kids program.
Each year the program serves around 600 children ages birth through 5th grade. The deadline to apply this year is Friday, November 12. Applications are available at locations throughout the county including, all public elementary schools, the Habersham County Board of Education, and Head Start plus these local agencies:
- Sharing and Caring in Clarkesville (Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m.- 12:45 p.m.)
- Sharing and Caring in Cornelia (Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m.)
- United Way office on Level Grove Road in Cornelia (Monday- Friday 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., call to confirm someone there at 706-778-0620)
Parents with children in Habersham County Schools or Head Start should turn in their applications at their child’s school.
Parents with children who reside in Habersham who are not yet school age or are in other schools should turn in their applications to the Board of Education, Sharing and Caring, or United Way.
Organizers will notify parents by letter after December 3 as to the status of their application. For questions about applications, please contact the Habersham County Schools Social Work Department at 706-894-3055.
If you would like to donate money to support Toys for Kids, please send a check to the Kiwanis Club of Habersham County, P.O. Box 1507, Cornelia, GA 30531.
You may also donate new toys, books, or new or gently used coats, hats and scarves at The Cornelia Depot, Clarkesville Library, Cornelia Library, Habersham Board of Education, and through the county’s public schools.
