
An 85-year-old Toccoa woman escaped serious injury Sunday when she ran into an embankment along GA-197 north of Clarkesville.
Ira Bennett was driving a 2015 Nissan Altima southbound on the highway when she ran off the road in a curve, according to the Georgia State Patrol. After striking the embankment, Bennett’s car came to a stop in the southbound lane of GA-197 North.
Habersham County EMS transported Bennett by ambulance to Habersham County Medical Center in Demorest for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries,
