Two historical documents dating back to the early 1900s will soon be hanging on the walls of the Toccoa Falls College Museum and Archives. The documents provide insight into the history of the land on which the college sits.

The first document is the Abstract of the Falls Tract of Land, created in 1905 when Stephens County was first created out of Franklin and Habersham Counties. It details the ownership of the Falls Tract from the post-Revolutionary War period to 1905. This original document is believed to have been preserved in a safe at the time of the 1913 Haddock Inn fire, according to TFC Registrar and Archivist Kelly Vickers.

The second document is the Falls Tract survey that County Surveyor M.B. Collier platted in 1945. It builds upon surveys from 1911 to 1943 and references several local families.

The college commissioned Troup’s Studio and Gifts of Toccoa to frame the documents. Vickers says these historical pieces will eventually be on display in the Toccoa Falls College Museum.
