Toccoa’s City Commission unanimously approved its fiscal year 2026 budget during a regular meeting on Monday, May 19, following a second reading and public hearing. No citizens spoke during the hearing.

The approved budget totals $66.4 million, marking a 5.6% decrease from the previous year.

City officials confirmed that the current millage rate of 6.0 mills will remain unchanged. An official vote on the millage rate will likely take place in August, according to city officials, once Stephens County provides updated digest figures. A mill is equal to $1 per $1,000 of taxable property value, with property assessed at 40% of its value in Toccoa.

Now Habersham will have full details on Toccoa’s FY 2026 budget on Tuesday, May 20.
