Truett McConnell University in Cleveland will conduct a mass casualty emergency drill from 2-4 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 22. The drill will take place on the campus located off Hwy. 115. Organizers say it will go on “rain or shine.”

Students from TMU’s nursing and public service schools and multiple medical and public safety agencies will participate in the drill.

“This will be an interprofessional educational event,” says Kelly Edwards, Assistant Nursing Professor and Advisor for TMU’s Rielin and Salmen School of Nursing. “The drill is intended to help students learn how to provide an immediate response in treating a variety of medical conditions.”

The scenario will focus on an intentional mass casualty incident with multiple injuries.

Emergency vehicles and personnel from the following agencies are expected on the TMU Cleveland campus on Wednesday: White County Emergency Services and the sheriff’s office, the Cleveland Police Department, White County Health Department, Northeast Georgia Health System, and Air Methods (life flight helicopter).
