The Truett McConnell University (TMU) women’s beach volleyball team is set to open their 2025 season on Thursday. The Lady Bears will host their first, three-day tournament of the season.
TMU’s Women’s Beach Volleyball had a historical season, finishing 15-13 overall, 6-4 SUN. TMU welcomed Joe Herrera as the Director of Volleyball at the beginning of 2024 where he helped guide the Lady Bears through a successful season.
The Lady Bears were featured earning their first National recognition after being seen on the week three release of the 2024 NAIA Women’s Beach Volleyball Coaches’ Top 10 Rating, receiving three votes. TMU was also featured in qualifying for the SUN Conference Tournament for the first time in program history, earning the No. 5 seed spot.
The Lady Bears went on to finish their historical season at the AVCA Small College Championship where TMU finished 3-2 in the tournament, proving capable of securing a third-place finish after besting St. Andrews University, Ottawa University, and Warner University.
Among the core group of returners for the Lady Bears are graduate student Jordan Roberts, fifth year seniors, Deomi Valmus and Rachel Kessler, along with seniors Macy Boggs, Elizabeth Franklin and Kaleigh McFarland. TMU will be welcoming seven incoming Bears to the program.
The Lady Bears are set to face Brenau University this Thursday at 3:00 p.m. to kick start the three-day event. It will be followed by matches on Friday against Georgia Highlands College at 10:00 a.m. and LaGrange College at 4:00 p.m. On Saturday, the Lady Bears will face the (RV) University of Mobile at 1:00 p.m.
