The Giants fell to the Packers 38-13 in the NFC Wild-Card game, but for Tavarres King, former Habersham Central Raider (’08), it was a night to remember with a timely touchdown catch, his first career NFL score.
TK’s 41-yard touchdown late in the third quarter proved to be pivotal at the time, as the Giants pulled close to the Packers, making the score 14-13.

King had a career night on the biggest stage, catching three passes for 73 yards, as he was targeted six times by QB Eli Manning. This comes after his big catch in the regular-season finale, in which King had an important 44-yard reception to help New York earn a win over the Redskins.
For the journeyman King, who stared at UGA before being drafted by the Denver Broncos, tonight marked a big step in showing that he can be a weapon for the Giants offense moving forward. Prior to this season, despite being in the Broncos, Panthers, Jaguars, Bucaneers and Giants, he had only hauled in two NFL regular season passes for 13 yards with the Bucs.
This season, King had two catches for 50 yards in the regular season, giving him 63 yards for his career on four catches. In one night, January 8, King eclipsed his career yardage with the three catches for 73 yards and a touchdown!
