GSP releases names of teens killed in Stephens County wreck

Two Clarkesville teens among those killed

A single-vehicle accident in Martin, Georgia, early Friday morning claimed the lives of two teenaged girls from Clarkesville and another teenager from Martin. A fourth teen from Toccoa was critically injured.

The accident happened around 12:15 a.m. on Brookhaven Circle.

The Georgia State Patrol says the teens were traveling north on Brookhaven in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle failed to maintain its lane in a curve and crossed into the southbound lane. The vehicle then ran off the road, overturned and struck “numerous trees with its left front and top,” according to officials.

The 18-year-old driver, Tristin Elizabeth Helton and her 16-year-old front seat passenger Kennedy Ruthann Wright, both of Clarkesville, were killed in the accident. 17-year-old Macklen-Jace Ellijah Alexander of Martin was ejected from the vehicle and also killed.

The other back seat passenger, 17-year-old Kainan Terrell Green of Toccoa, was partially ejected. He was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in critical condition.
